Historical places - world

Alcobaça (5 km) is famous because of the greatest monastery in Portugal . This belongs to UNESCO world heritage and has free entrance on Sundays  untill 13.00.

Óbidos (31 km) is a walled medieval fortress and definitely worth a visit. You can stroll through the narrow streets lined with artisan shops. If you do not suffer from vertigo, do a walk on the walls and you enjoy magnificent views.

Fatima (61km): This pilgrimage is called the altar of the world. Here, Mary appeared to three shepherd children.

Batalha (25 km): if you drive to this place, you immediately see the magnificent cathedral cloister (UNESCO World Heritage), a masterpiece of Portuguese Gothic.

Tomar (83 km): here you will find the monastery and the temple of the Templars.

Santarém (78 km): Gothic town

Mafra (97 km): the Palácio Nacional de Mafra from the 18th century is the most important baroque monuments in Portugal and covers an area of ​​approximately 40,000 m².

Sintra (124 km): is an amazingly beautiful town at the foot of the mountain of the same name. The unique characteristics of Sintra made sure it was recognized by UNESCO as world heritage.

Buddha Eden (24 km): This beautiful garden is located in Bombarral, 5 minutes drive from Óbidos. This is a large garden with lots of Buddha statues. The park is owned by a millionaire who lives in Madeira.
